Vincent Janssen’s spell at Tottenham has been extremely disappointing so far. The Dutch international signed for Spurs two and a half seasons ago in a £17 million deal after winning the golden boot in the Dutch Eredivisie.
While Janssen’s hold up play looked pretty promising during his first few months with the club, the Dutch international found goals hard to come by. The 24-year-old eventually fell out of favor with Pochettino and was sent out on loan to Fenerbahce last season after the arrival of Fernando Llorente.
The Dutchman was expected to leave the club last summer but suffered a foot injury which thwarted his chances of getting a move. However, the 24-year-old has now fully recovered from the injury and featured in Spurs U-23’s game against Liverpool U-23 on Monday night.
In an effort to regain his match fitness, the striker played the entirety of the first half in a game that ended 1-1. A report in the Daily Mail suggests that Pochettino is now set to hold talks with Janssen before deciding whether to sell the striker this January.
The report claims that Tottenham wish to offload one striker in January and that Llorente might potentially attract more suitors than the Dutch striker. So it is suggested that Janssen might yet get a chance to resurrect his Spurs career.
It will be interesting to see how the 24-year-old performs if Pochettino does indeed bring him back into the fold.
