‘Poch would never’ – Spurs legend hits out at ‘disrespectful’ Pep Guardiola

Tottenham Hotspur legend, Graham Roberts has hit out at Man City boss Pep Guardiola for his comments surrounding Harry Kane’s future.

In a press conference last week, Pep admitted that Man City would like to sign Kane this summer, although a deal would not be possible if Spurs do not want to negotiate.

This response differed from the usual style adopted by many managers when asked questions about players from other clubs.

For example, when Nuno Espirito Santo was asked about Lautaro Martinez to Tottenham rumours this week, he simply replied he would not speak about non-Spurs players.

This came after The Times had reported Tottenham and Inter Milan had agreed a £60m plus fee for the Argentine striker.

At the time, Football London journalist Alasdair Gold even hinted that Nuno’s answer had been a subtle swipe at Pep Guardiola.

Graham Roberts has now gone one better, calling the Man City boss disrespectful while contrasting him to Pochettino and Nuno.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Pep’s comments were designed to stir things up and keep the story moving while putting pressure on Tottenham. I agree, his words were arrogant and disrespectful. You get the sense that he feels he can say what he wants because he is one of the biggest managers in the world and Man City are not used to being turned down.
