Pochettino answers question on Christian Eriksen’s contract situation

Christian Eriksen’s future at Tottenham Hotspur has been the subject of the spotlight of the media in recent weeks.

The Dane has 18 months to run on his existing deal at the club and has yet to agree a new contract extension.

While Real Madrid have been linked with a move for the playmaker, recent reports suggest that the Spanish giants have cooled their interest in Eriksen and would instead turn their attention to attempting to sign Eden Hazard from Chelsea (Sun).

Spurs are said to have identified Leicester midfielder James Maddison as the man to take Eriksen’s place in the squad (Mirror).

However, Spurs fans will be hoping that the club can persuade Eriksen to sign on the dotted line before the end of the season, with 26-year-old having become a pivotal part of our transformation in recent seasons.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino was asked on Friday during the pre-Leicester press conference if there has been any progress on Eriksen’s contract situation and the Argentine said he didn’t have anything new to report.

Speaking to Football.London Pochettino said, “No news (on Eriksen’s future). Everything is in the same place as months ago.”
