Pochettino asked when Giovani Lo Celso will be able to start games

Tottenham Hotspur fans were given another glimpse of their new star signing, Giovani Lo Celso, this week, as he came on for 12 minutes against Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League.

Spurs won the match 5-0 in their most impressive victory of the season so far, but Lo Celso has yet to start a match for the Lilywhites.

The Argentine joined from Real Betis on loan on deadline day in the summer, but it took him a few weeks to bed into the squad.

After Pochettino did finally reward him with three appearances from the bench, Lo Celso picked up an injury on duty for Argentina that would keep him out for well over a month.

Lo Celso made his return on Tuesday evening and looked impressively sharp on the ball for Spurs, with many fans now looking forward to his full debut for the club.

However, Pochettino was keen to calm things down and stated that Giovani will have to wait for his chance (Football London): “He only played 10 minutes. I understand people want to see new faces but he needs time like Tanguy or Ryan Sessegnon. I understand of course that people want to see new faces and different players but we have plenty of players – we have Dele, Tanguy, Christian Eriksen, Lamela, Harry Winks, a lot of midfielders in that position. He needs to wait for his opportunity. Of course, he played 10 mins after his issue but it’s all about performance. For sure he performed well and he showed at the training ground that he deserved to play. I am a coach who tries to be fair.”
