Pochettino asked whether 17-year-old is in his plans against Colchester

Tottenham Hotspur take on League 2 outfit Colchester United this evening in their first Carabao Cup clash of the season.

This may have come at the best time for Spurs as they look to put some disappointing results against Olympiacos and Leicester City behind them.

With the first team having played on Saturday, Pochettino may look to his youngsters to step up this evening.

Among the most impressive gems in the Spurs academy at the moment is young Troy Parrott, who has certainly impressed so far this season.

The Irishman was taken on the tour of Asia in pre-season and looked at home in the Spurs starting line-up as one of the team’s most impressive players.

He also scored three goals in his first two matches for the Republic of Ireland U21 team this month.

Pochettino was asked this week whether Parrott was in his plans for the trip to Colchester, to which he replied (Football London): “Maybe, of course, he was here today [with the squad at the Premier League match at Leicester], but he wasn’t in the 18-man squad. Of course, we will see.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

I would be extremely surprised and disappointed if Parrott is now handed a start against Colchester. No matter his age, few could argue that he has not earned a chance to shine.
