Pochettino believes this is Sissoko’s greatest strength

Tottenham Hotspur got back to their usual dominant ways in the first game of 2019, taking all three points in style.

Spurs slotted three past Cardiff City in the first 20 minutes yesterday afternoon, before shutting up shop and cantering through the remainder of the game in second gear.

This put a shock defeat to Wolves firmly behind them, way back in 2018.

The lethargic and fatigued-looking Tottenham that threw away a half-time lead to Wolverhampton didn’t rear its ugly head this time around, thankfully.

In fairness, Spurs and Everton have had the roughest festive fixture list, with Tottenham playing 10 games over the last 30 days.

Some of their players, one outstanding being Moussa Sissoko, have also played a huge number of minutes over this time.

In fact, the Frenchman clocked up almost every single minute over the festive period, yet he still powered through the Cardiff midfield yesterday.

Pochettino believes his physical condition is one of his biggest strengths now.

Poch said (Football London): “I think one of his strengths is his physical condition. Of course he’s doing a fantastic job for the team. I think we are so happy and so pleased. That is what you expect from a player when he signs, to step up and show their quality and in the way he’s playing it’s very good news for Tottenham.”
