Pochettino believes Tottenham can win the Champions League

Tottenham Hotspur are finally through to the semi finals of the Champions League, the first time Spurs fans will have ever been able to say that.

The Lilywhites went into the quarter finals with the Herculean task of beating Manchester City, the Premier League champions, over two legs.

Pep Guardiola’s side had ambitions of winning the quadruple this season, but Pochettino and Tottenham had other ideas.

After going behind in a matter of minutes on the night, Spurs battled back to lead the match 2-1 through two Heung Min Son strikes.

However, Man City then fought back to score three, leading the match 4-2 on the night, and the tie 4-3 on aggregate.

The drama wasn’t done there though, as Fernando Llorente scored a third vital away goal via his hip, a goal that was checked and approved via VAR.

Man City later scored a fifth on the night to steal semi final qualification, but Sterling’s finish was ruled out by VAR for offside in the build up.

Spurs now enter the final four with Ajax between them and the final.

Pochettino believes anything can happen in football (Football London): “I think today we show and last week against Manchester City that all is possible in football. That is the most important thing. Sport always gives you the possibility to beat teams that no one believes or thinks we are capable of. Why? Football is not only about talent but belief and to have the right mentality. This team has the personality, character and mentality to believe all is possible. I think that is a massive achievement for us after five years. We feel very proud we can translate that belief and faith that all is possible in football. Only we need to be open and try give our best. With the quality we can have this type of performance and achieve these big things. If not, it’s impossible. With only quality it’s impossible to achieve a semi-final in the Champions League. You need belief, faith and spirit and when start pre-season be strong and start to run and be professional. These are many things now we are at the end of the season we are starting to see. It’s a long time ago we start to build that person. If you want to be a successful person you need to work very hard.”
