Pochettino claims he is ‘not thinking of Ajax’

Tottenham Hotspur qualified for their first ever Champions League final on Wednesday after beating Manchester City over two legs in the quarters.

Spurs won their home leg by one goal to nil, before scoring three away goals at the Etihad to make club history.

This booked a semi-final against Ajax at the end of this month, but Pochettino insists he is not even thinking of the crucial tie.

This sentiment is supposed to create the idea that Tottenham are taking it one game at a time, and are focused on the home game against Brighton above all else.

However, I’m sure Pochettino has started to plan for the Champions League semi final behind the scenes.

Spurs face Brighton tomorrow night in the Premier League at Tottenham’s new stadium, a ground in which they have yet to taste anything but a win.

Tottenham will be looking to continue this record up to and beyond the Ajax first leg.

Poch said (Football London): “We are not thinking of Ajax. We showed today that we are thinking in that today and that competition, the Premier League. Now our energy is in Brighton. It is so clear that we have two objectives – one is to be in the top four at the end of the season and the other is to beat Ajax, but we need to go step-by-step.

“They [The players] know it, I think the behaviour and the mentality is perfect. You know very well if there is something wrong I see it and I am going to tell them but I think they were very professional today, the performance was very good and very professional.”
