Pochettino claims it was hard for his players to perform in lacking atmosphere

Tottenham Hotspur fans have had very little to shout about of late, with just three wins from the first 12 games of their 2019/20 season.

Spurs have already dropped points in six Premier League games, as well as getting a battering at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Champions League and being knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Colchester United.

It can often be hard to fill a stadium with a roaring atmosphere when the team is giving you next to nothing to spark the fire.

Pochettino has now claimed that the atmosphere in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was not ideal, claiming that it was not easy for his players to perform in.

Spurs conceded within the first five minutes against bottom of the league Watford today, which seemed to suck what little life the Spurs fans had in them.

However, is blaming the atmosphere created by the fans the best decision from Poch?

He said (Football London): “The performance wasn’t great. It wasn’t great, but again when you concede an early goal of course in the momentum of the team it’s always tough. Of course, it’s a difficult situation because when you want to build your confidence again and be solid and to have the calm to play, because you always need to be calm to play, we started to make rash decisions.

“We were nervous. Of course, the atmosphere wasn’t in the way that you love to play in and it wasn’t the best. I understand of course the fans and everyone. It’s not easy. I was a professional player in this type of situation and it is so difficult to play. Of course, Watford defended well and were very strong, never gave the space to us to be clear and have chances to score.”
