Pochettino claims Spurs do not need to be careful regarding their top four place

Tottenham Hotspur made it back to back defeats in the Premier League last night as they lost 2-0 to London rivals Chelsea.

This has seen Spurs go from a chance to move two behind Liverpool, to nine points adrift of the League leaders in the space of two matches.

Tottenham’s title hopes are well and truly dead now, but there is still plenty to fight for through the remainder of the season.

Not only are Spurs still in the Champions League, but they must now look over their shoulders at the chasing back behind.

A loss against Arsenal on Saturday would see the Gunners move just a point behind Spurs in the table, with Chelsea and United not far behind that.

If Tottenham aren’t careful, they may find themselves dragged back into a brawl for the Champions League spots for next season.

Sitting comfortably in third a week or so ago, anything but top four would be a disaster for Spurs, but Pochettino isn’t worried.

He said (Football London): “Why careful? I am not afraid. I have freedom in my mind, I have the same feeling I had before. If people are scared now about the top four, that is football. It’s a massive business for sure but we need to enjoy it, playing football. If we are capable of finishing in the top four in end, because after two defeats, maybe there’s a feeling we’re not there or we’re not contenders, we need to keep going and try to be ready for the next game. But it’s not a drama, eh?”
