Pochettino comments on Son’s overturned red card and how the player is doing

Tottenham Hotspur manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has been commenting on Heung Min Son again in his pre-match press conference today ahead of the Champions League clash against Red Star Belgrade.

Heung Min Son was left distraught on Sunday when his tackle from behind led to Andre Gomes suffering a horrific ankle fracture-dislocation.

Gomes was stretchered off and taken to hospital while Heung Min Son was handed a red card by Martin Atkinson and sent down the tunnel.

However, the South Korean did make the flight to Serbia for the Wednesday match and Pochettino claims that he is doing a lot better now.

The Spurs manager also claimed that he knew the red card would be overturned, which was confirmed by Sky Sports News earlier today.

However, he did take the opportunity to hit out at VAR for not sorting the problem out on the day, a decision that arguably may have cost Spurs points against Everton.

Poch said (Football London): “All the players for Tottenham, we feel so sorry. We’re so happy the news that everything was ok with his injury today. We hope he recovers soon. Sonny is ok. After the action, it was a mix of everything. It was an emotional moment for everyone. Now everyone is ok.

“I was confident [the red card] would be overturned. We were a bit confused after the game. It’s completely fair that he’s now not suspended. The only problem is that the VAR can check these things and it was clearly and obviously not a red card.”
