Pochettino comments on the Serge Aurier penalty decision

Tottenham Hotspur threw away yet another result away from home after taking the lead this evening as they faced a tough trip to Anfield in the Premier League.

Spurs went 1-0 up within the first minute after Heung Min Son’s shot deflected onto the crossbar and Harry Kane expertly turned the rebound into the net via his head.

Unfortunately, it was all Liverpool from then onwards, with Tottenham’s only other big chance coming as Son burst clear of the defence, took it around the keeper, and narrowly missed the chance to make it 2-0 by hitting the bar.

Goals from Jordan Henderson and Mo Salah in the second half sank any Spurs hopes of a result, but it was the manner in which Tottenham conceded the second that will infuriate some fans.

Serge Aurier was the culprit yet again after he swiped at Sadio Mane’s legs to hand Liverpool a penalty.

Poch had his say on the incident (Football London): “It was an action that I don’t want to complain. Technically it is a penalty because there is contact. It’s an action that’s soft but it’s a penalty.”
