Pochettino discusses Son’s impressive scoring record against Dortmund

Son Heung-Min has been in sensational form since the start of December for Tottenham having scored 11 times in 15 appearances.

The 26-year-old has had a stop-start season having jetted off with South Korea twice already since Tottenham’s campaign having appeared at both the Asian Games as well as the recently concluded Asia Cup.

He struggled to find form early in the season as he seemed to lack a bit of sharpness but lately, the forward seems to be scoring and assisting for fun.

Son’s recent upturn in form has come at the right time as he has dragged Tottenham over the line in their recent Premier League games with both Harry Kane and Dele Alli out with injuries.

The South Korean will yet again be crucial if Spurs are to get the better of Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 tie at Wembley on Wednesday.

Dortmund are perhaps Son’s favourite opponents having found the back of the net 8 times in 10 games against the German giants.

When Pochettino was asked about Son’s impressive record against Dortmund, he told Football.London, “Sometimes that happens and you don’t know why. Maybe its coincidence, but it happens.

“I think Son is doing fantastic and after November he started to feel important and started to recover his confidence and he is doing very well.”
