Pochettino explains what Spurs need to do against Arsenal

It is not often that Tottenham have lost two back-to-back games during Mauricio Pochettino’s reign. This is why the 2-0 defeat to Chelsea on Wednesday surprised many people.

While Spurs seemed to match Chelsea for most of the game, they failed to create clear-cut openings and gave way two goals through defensive errors. The defeat has put Tottenham in a precarious position ahead of the North London Derby, as another loss on Saturday would put Spurs’ hopes of qualifying for the Champions League next season, in real jeopardy.

While Pochettino insisted that his side’s performance against the Blues on Wednesday wasn’t bad, he admitted that three points was all that mattered at this stage of the season. The Argentine also said that irrespective of how well Tottenham play, it was important for them to beat Arsenal this afternoon to get the winning feeling back.

Speaking during the pre-match press conference ahead of the North London derby, Pochettino told Football.London, “The most important thing is the result because in the end we played well and we play in a similar level because it was even the game against Chelsea, but rather than losing you win.

“It’s easy to say the answer was very positive, but we lost. Tomorrow is the same. The most important thing is the three points. If we play well fantastic, if not it’s going to be a tough game but the most important thing is the three points and recovering the feeling because we need to be ready again for the Champions League which is going to be very tough against Dortmund.”
