Pochettino explains why Tottenham have decided not to sign players

Tottenham Hotspur currently sit third in the Premier League, behind only Liverpool and Manchester City.

Spurs are ahead of their big six rivals Chelsea, Man United, and Arsenal, despite failing to sign a single new player this season.

Tottenham became the first Premier League club in history not to sign a new player in the summer transfer window this season, and it looks as if they will now follow suit in January too.

The only piece of winter window business Tottenham have conducted so far is the sale of Mousa Dembele to China.

Many fans may have been hoping for a signing or two this window, especially with the injuries to both Harry Kane and Dele Alli, but alas, nothing.

However, Pochettino has now revealed that Tottenham can and will invest, but only at the right time.

He states that the reasons behind not signing new players this season have not been driven by funds, but a lack of availability of players who could currently help Spurs.

Poch said (Football London): “Yes but all in the right time. The club decide to sign or not for different reasons, I think it was better for club to keep our players. I understand everything and I understand a lot of opinions about Pochettino. The most important thing is we decide as a club, every single decision is about the club, we share all the decisions, it is not me that I have £100m to spend or I want to sign or I don’t want to sign, the decision is about working with the club, with the resources we have, thinking that my view must be different to the chief scout or the chairman but at the same time I need to take best decision for the club, for our fans, watching the big picture, not only today and tomorrow. That is my responsibility as a manager. If we don’t sign it is not because I don’t want to sign it’s because we are not capable to find player that will help us.”
