Pochettino had this to say on Eriksen’s future

Tottenham Hotspur are in superb form heading into their boxing day fixture against Bournemouth today.

Spurs come into the match off the back of Premier league wins against Southampton, Burnley, and a 6-2 thumping of Everton.

They also sit third in the League, just two points behind Man City, and a further four behind Liverpool.

This has represented Tottenham’s best ever start to a season, and they also find themselves in the first semi-final of the campaign, as well as the Champions League knockouts.

However, the club do have one issue moving forwards, and that is the state of some of their first team players’ contracts.

Toby Alderweireld, Mousa Dembele, Michel Vorm, and Fernando Llorente are all out of contract this summer, so Spurs will need to either sign them up to new deals or shift them on if they are not to waste potential profits.

Toby’s contract can be extended for an extra year, but this will make him available for £25m in the summer.

Christian Eriksen is also now into the last 18 months of his current deal, and it remains unclear if he will sign a new one.

Pochettino had this to say (SkySports):

“Football is so dynamic. It changes every day, every season. It depends not only on your decision, but it is always a player’s decision. Now is a moment to enjoy our present.

“Of course, it is a person that the club wants for the future, but now we need to be focused – a player like him is focused and tries to deliver a great performance in the way that we need.

“A decision is going to happen at the end of the season or [maybe] a decision will happen in the next few days, in January. Football is so dynamic – it is decision, decision, decision.

“I hope we are going to take the best decision for the club and hope the player can take the best decision for them and for the club – it is about negotiation and many things that happen.

“Football is so dynamic, always you need to move on.”
