Pochettino so happy for Trippier

The club website has said that Mauricio Pochettino has paid tribute to Kieran Trippier, with the defender preparing for England ahead of friendly internationals against Germany and Brazil.

The full back will aim to add to his two caps in the friendlies on Friday (Germany) and Tuesday (Brazil) at Wembley.

The article adds that Pochettino has been impressed with the manner in which has gone about his work since he arrived at Hotspur Way , firstly competing for his place with Kyle Walker and now Serge Aurier.

“We’re so happy with Kieran,” said Mauricio. “He came from Burnley, he was very humble when he arrived here to fight for his place in the team and after two years, he’s playing against Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Pochettino continued “We’re so proud of him. His improvement – just like we talk about Harry Kane or Dele Alli – is down to him. Kieran is so focused on trying to be better every day. That’s the secret.”

Mauricio is also very happy to have competition between his players. He said:”It’s very good news for us to have players so competitive,” he added. “You can see now the competition is so tough. We need everyone fit and with the right mentality to compete for a place in the team.”

So many similarities between the Trippier-Walker situation and the Aurier-Trippier situation, he’s(Trippier) kept up the work rate and has deserved his chance. Aurier’s arrival seemed a bit unfair on him but it’s inspired him and he’s been terrific. Walker would normally have their position nailed down in the England set up but I’m not so sure now
