Pochettino has his say on West Ham’s summer spending spree

Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that he is not surprised by West Ham United’s summer spending spree.

The Hammers splashed out around £100 million during the off season by recruiting a host of players including Andriy Yarmolenko, Felipe Anderson, Issa Diop and Carlos Sanchez.

In contrast, Tottenham Hotspur did not spend a penny and became the first side in Premier League history not to recruit any fresh faces since the inception of the transfer window.

Whilst Manuel Pellegrini’s side may have been shelling out, they find themselves precariously positioned in 15th place in the league, having just picked up seven points from their opening eight matches.

Tottenham fans know all too well that spending big sums of money doesn’t guarantee success, just cast your minds back to the £100 million we spent after selling Gareth Bale.

Pochettino told Football.London: “I am not surprised, in England you have teams like Fulham who spend more than West Ham, different type of club the possibility to sign because it is so healthy the financial in the Premier League. When the club cab invest it is good or clubs. And the clubs that need to improve and want to improve and do better than last seen then they need to invest and add quality to their squad.”
