Pochettino: ‘I am confident our stadium will be finished this year’

It has ben a trying few months for Tottenham fans in regards to their new stadium. The ground was originally due to open on the 15th of September against Liverpool, but delays have seen the date pushed back further and further.

Daniel Levy extended Tottenham’s Wembley stay under December 15 of this year, but apparently hoped that Spurs would be at the new ground before then.

The latest rumours from papers such as The Independent suggest that the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium may not be ready until 2019.

Well, good news Spurs fans… Yes! Good news! Regarding the stadium! You read that correctly.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that the club are confident that the brand new 62,000 seat stadium will be finished this year.

This would give the team a much-needed boost, after sub-par performances have plagued their season so far. A 2-1 win against Brighton last weekend ended a three game losing streak for the Lilywhites, including a 2-1 defeat in their first Champions League tie.

The Sun reported that Pochettino said: “I am confident our stadium will be ready this year. I had private conversations with Daniel and I think they are confident.

“I hope that before Christmas, we can play. That’s my wish. It will be a big boost for everyone. But after that comment Daniel might kill me and say, ‘Why did you put this expectation on me?’”
