Pochettino: “The most important club in the world is Tottenham”

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino insisted he was committed to Spurs – “the best club in the world” – amid links to Real Madrid according to an article in FourFourTwo.

The Argentinian tactician has again been linked to Real Madrid after leading Tottenham to a 3-1 win over the La Liga giants in the Champions League on Wednesday and also amid uncertainty over Zinedine Zidane’s future.

The article adds however that Pochettino has often spoken about his commitment to Spurs and he reaffirmed his position ahead of Sunday’s meeting with Crystal Palace.

“The most important club in the world is Tottenham,” he told the gathered media . “And it is the best club in the world.

“I need to feel like this and that emotion is real because I cannot be fake. It’s too difficult to create the trust if you don’t really believe and it’s not real, that emotion.

“Today, Tottenham is in my head 100 percent. Today, I do not change Tottenham for another position in the world because I am so involved, so focused.

Pochettino added: “The club deserves to have people that think only about the club, the fans, the players and the structures – and they provide us with an unbelievable life. It’s important to recognise that.
“It’s an amazing club and it’s so important for us to pay back the club for the way that they treat us.”

The article adds that Pochettino extended his Spurs contract in May last year, signing on with the Premier League side until 2021 also how the former Espanyol and Southampton boss also talked up his relationship with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.

“Before I arrived to Tottenham, everyone said to me, ‘It’s so difficult to have a very good relationship with Daniel’. And after, I discovered a great man,” Pochettino said.

“Today, I feel that he trusts in me and I trust in him. That is a good point. And then, I don’t think too much about my future. I think about today.
“I don’t care what happens around myself because I know very well that I am so happy here and we have a great relationship.

Pochettino added “It’s not about win or lose, it’s about trust, and when you achieve that in a club like Tottenham, with massive potential, you must create something together to try to be strong and win.”

Great words from a great manager. It has taken Daniel Levy forever and a day to find the right man to share his vision and we struck it lucky when Pochettino arrived. His unwavering commitment to the club is refreshing and as fans we hope for success but in general for Pochettino too, he deserves it
