Pochettino labels Bayern Munich as contenders to win the Champions League

Tottenham Hotspur face yet another tough Champions League match tomorrow night as they come head to head with Bayern Munich at the new White Hart Lane.

Spurs have taken on the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, Juventus, Man City, Ajax, and more in their recent European journeys, but Bayern are a relatively new challenge.

Spurs did come up against them earlier in the summer, but that was only a pre-season Audi Cup game, which Spurs won on penalties.

This Champions League affair will be a different match entirely, with Spurs hoping to build on their draw against Olympiacos and Bayern looking for back-to-back wins after a comfortable victory over Red Star Belgrade.

With Bayern now boasting stars such as Perisic, Coutinho, Neuer, Lewandowski, Muller, Coman, and more, they will surely go down as contenders to win the entire tournament.

That’s what Pochettino believes anyway, as the Spurs boss has labelled the German side as a historic club that prepare to win the Champions League every season.

He said (Football London): “In the history of the Champions League, they are a club that every season, they prepare themselves to try to win the competition because the history says that. They are a great club, great players and an amazing coaching staff, who we know very well. We played the Audi Cup and we shared much time together. They are a historic club that can be one of the contenders for sure to win the Champions League.”
