Pochettino looks back on Sissoko from a year-and-a-half ago

It has been a crazy old season for Tottenham Hotspur from not signing a single new player to playing home games at three different stadiums in one campaign.

However, one of the weirdest events of the season so far has been the complete transformation of French midfielder Moussa Sissoko.

Up until the start of the 2018/19 season, Sissoko has been a complete flop in North London, with fans able to count the number of goods games he had played on one hand.

However, a switch seemed to flick in Sissoko’s head and body at the start of this campaign, as he has quickly become one of the first names on the Tottenham team sheet.

Whether it’s at right back, central midfield, right wing, or between the sticks probably, Sissoko seems to shine in whatever he does.

Using is physical ability and incredible fitness, he is able to tackle or intercept the ball and simply drive at the heart of the opposition defence.

Mauricio Pochettino revealed this week that they always knew of his ability, which is why they spent so long supporting him at Tottenham.

Poch said (Sky Sports – quoted by HITC): “Maybe now it is very easy to talk positive about him.

“I remember a year-and-a-half ago, how we supported him because we knew the effort and quality of him.

“Of course, it’s a quality that we appreciate, the coaching staff and the manager, we appreciate a lot.”
