Pochettino makes Bournemouth game admission

Tottenham Hotspur will travel to the south coast to take on Bournemouth tomorrow during Saturday lunchtime, in what will be a crucial game in the club’s quest to finish in the top four spots.

Victory over the Cherries will ensure that Pochettino’s men seal a top four finish with a game to go, and will thus allow the team to fully focus on the Champions League return leg against Ajax.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino admitted that it is a key game in the Lilywhites season as finishing in the top is a priority for the club.

Speaking as a part of his pre-match press conference, the Argentine told Football.London, “The problem now is it’s a decisive period for us. It’s a key moment. Playing the second leg of the semi-final and playing Saturday against Bournemouth.

“Now it’s not to talk too much, to focus on our job and deliver. Finishing in the top four is our priority too.”

Pochettino also admitted that the tie comes at a tricky time in Tottenham’s season, as it is sandwiched between the two Champions League semifinal ties. The 47-year-old said that the team needs to stick together and deliver a strong performance on Saturday.

He added, “Maybe we’re in circumstances that maybe aren’t the best but now it’s a moment to be all together. Being together is the best.

“Try not to think too much, go there and try to do what we want in the end. Try to forget the circumstances and deliver our best.

“How we prepare for the games is so easy. Not too much time to prepare but it’s about being together and being strong.”
