Pochettino makes it clear Spurs are going for four trophies

Tottenham Hotspur continued their fine form this season with a comfortable win over Cardiff City away from home yesterday.

Spurs left their momentary hiccup at home to Wolves firmly behind them in 2018 as they slotted three goals past the Welsh side, courtesy of Kane, Eriksen, and Son.

This was the perfect way for the club to get their 2019 underway, and momentarily cut the gap to Liverpool down to six points again, while also leapfrogging Man City.

City and Liverpool go head to head on Thursday night, with at least one of Tottenham’s rivals guaranteed to drop points.

Pochettino’s men also have their first FA Cup tie to look forward to as they take on Tranmere on Friday, with a semi-final against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup not too far away either.

Tottenham managed to book their place in the Champions League knockouts at the death last year too, with two legs against Borussia Dortmund set for Feb/March time.

Pochettino has made it clear with his recent comments that his side will be taking every competition seriously in their hunt for silverware.

He said this after Spurs’ important three points against Cardiff (Football London): “I think it was so important. It’s so important to build another positive run. Of course in football it’s impossible to win every game, but sure we are going to try to win every single game.

“It was so important for our confidence, because in three days we are going to start another competition, the FA Cup, which is going to be important too. Then we are going to play the Carabao Cup semi-final against Chelsea. I think it was so important to start the new year with a victory, away from home in a very difficult place, against a team like Cardiff who came from beating Leicester.

“They came with massive confidence in the way they played the last game and it was a massive victory for us, three points that make us believe a little bit more in our possibility to be in a very good position in the table.”
