Pochettino makes sarcastic remark about Spurs man

Tottenham Hotspur fans have never been too welcoming when it comes to their once club record signing Moussa Sissoko.

The Frenchman was signed for £30m after an impressive Euros campaign for France back in 2016.

However, Sissoko never really justified such a big price tag, and consistently failed to perform in a Tottenham shirt for the first couple of years in North London.

It wasn’t just a lack of skill that frustrated fans, but an apparent lack of effort from the big man, as he always looked rather sloppy and lethargic on the ball.

However, the Frenchman’s fortunes and form have taken a drastic turn this campaign, as Sissoko, for the first time in his Spurs career, is playing consistently well.

He looks like a completely different player on the pitch at the moment with his positive driving runs, workman like performances in central midfield, and general oozing of confidence.

The fans, who once groaned upon news of his inclusion, now sign his name.

FootballLondon reported Poch had this to say on the matter: “This is football. I hope now that when I don’t play him the fans won’t criticise me! Things are now the opposite and he is a hero of the fans.

“In football you must always show respect because sometimes different players need a different amount of time to produce performances in the way that you want. But by being honest, professional and always giving your best you can turn the opinion of the people.

“Quality is so important in football. But quality without effort, being professional and fighting for the team makes it difficult for a player to show that quality.

“I think it is a very good situation to show everyone should respect all the players. Yes maybe they have not performed in the best way. But our decision always is to try to provide the best team to win.

“I am so happy for Moussa because he deserves the love he is getting from fans and his team-mates. He is a massive guy but he is so big-hearted and so nice.”
