Pochettino offers update on potential incomings

Mauricio Pochettino has held his pre-match press conference ahead of Tottenham’s Premier League opener against Newcastle United.

The 46-year-old admitted it would be difficult for his side to bring in any players with just hours to go until the deadline:

“I think it’s so difficult now. Only four hours to the end. I don’t have news now. Sure it will be difficult. Until you finish the game you can’t say it’s the end. It will be difficult,” he said.

Spurs remain the only side in the Premier League not to have added to their squad and look unlikely to do so.

Although the Argentine refused to rule anything out, it seemed pretty apparent that even he is aware Spurs look unlikely to bring anyone in.

A move for long-term target Jack Grealish fell apart yesterday after the Aston Villa owners announced the 22-year-old was no longer for sale.

Only three hours currently remain until the window slams shut, can Daniel Levy pull out a last-gasp move and bring in Tottenham’s first signing of the summer?
