Pochettino on whether Spurs will still finish in the top four

Tottenham Hotspur slumped to their 11th defeat of the season in the Manchester sun this afternoon.

Despite performing well, the Lilywhites were unable to recreate their Wednesday night trick by defeating Man City, as they fell to a 1-0 defeat.

However, Spurs were not without their good play or chances, as Heung Min Son and Lucas Moura both had opportunities to score a couple.

The three dropped points now mean that Chelsea and Arsenal could both go above Spurs by Monday night.

This would bump Tottenham down into fifth place, albeit with a game in hand on Chelsea.

Spurs have three home games left this season against Brighton, West Ham, and Everton, as well as an away trip to Bournemouth.

They will fancy getting 12 out of 12 points from these fixtures, which would secure a Champions League spot for next season.

Pochettino was asked today in his post match press conference whether Tottenham will still finish in the top four.

He said (Football London): “It’s in our hands to be in the top four and be in the Champions League next season. We are going to have now the next two games that will be decisive. We are going to be capable to win the next two games against Brighton and West Ham and I think will depend on us. Of course it’s going to be tough now because Tuesday we have a tough game and Saturday and the semi-final of the Champions League against Ajax. We know the circumstances and it will be very tough but I feel very proud. We need to keep that feeling and translate to Tuesday and be sure we can compete in our best way and be close to win as three points will be decisive in our race for the top four come the end of the season.”
