Pochettino on who could start at left back against Burnley

Last week against Borussia Dortmund, Tottenham has a selection dilemma at left back, however, fast forward a week and they may have options galore.

Pochettino was forced into naming Jan Vertonghen as a left wing back against the German League leaders, with Ben Davies out injured and Danny Rose only fit enough for the bench.

Vertonghen ended up assisting the opening goal, as well as adding the second himself in a man of the match performance.

This weekend for the trip to Burnley, Ben Davies is back in first team training, and Danny Rose has just recovered from an illness.

Although neither are at the ideal full fitness Poch would like, they could be available to play some part, with Jan Vertonghen and Kyle Walker-Peters also still options.

Pochettino gave the latest update on his two returning left backs, Davies and Rose in his pre match press conference earlier today.

Poch said (Football London): “Yes, it’s similar. Danny yesterday was ill. Today’s he’s better. We’ll see because it’s true that you need full energy to play. But it’s the same situation with Ben and Harry. It’s true the injuries are completely different. In some players you can put them in straight away, with others you need to give more time to be involved and to give maybe some period in the competition. We’ll see. We need to assess him too.”
