Pochettino on why his players deserve praise

It has been a tricky last few weeks for Tottenham Hotspur, as they have battled cup exits, a lack of transfers, and vast injuries to their squad.

Harry Kane and Dele Alli both picked up nasty injuries in January that have kept them out of Pochettino’s team selection for the past few matches.

This also initially came at a time when Lucas Moura was also out injured, and Heung Min Son was away on international duty with South Korea at the Asian Cup.

Spurs were therefore missing their top four goal scorers, but have battled through week after week to pick up the results.

With Moura and Son now back, Spurs have won their last three Premier League games against Fulham, Watford, and Newcastle, respectively.

However, Tottenham had their fans biting their nails as they took until past the 80th minute to grab the winner in each of these clashes.

Pochettino believes his side deserve credit for never giving up and pushing until they end to get the results, something Man City and Liverpool have struggled with of late.

He said (Football London): “Its difficult, I think our players deserve a lot of praise because of that. Never give up and keep pushing, with the circumstance on the team I talk very highly of the squad.

“We have ahead a very different game and we are going to start the CL and that is massive objective for the club.

“We are ready, I think it was good that clean week to prepare for Sunday but it will be tough.

“Premier League is the most competitive in the world and every week we can see how difficult it is.”
