Pochettino on why NLD is a good fixture for Spurs to have

Tottenham will welcome their North London rivals Arsenal to Wembley on Saturday in what will be arguably the biggest game of the season so far for both clubs. Arsenal could go within a point off Spurs if they win, and really put pressure on the Lillywhites.

Tottenham meanwhile could go seven points ahead of the Gunners if they get three points, thus making it difficult for Arsenal to catch them in the League.

While Arsenal come into the game in good form having thrashed Bournemouth 5-0 on Wednesday, Spurs come into the game on the back of two consecutive losses to Burnley and Chelsea.

Pochettino’s men are thus under a lot of pressure to bounce back and make a statement on Saturday but the Argentine has insisted that now is a great time to play Arsenal.

He said that it is easy to motivate the players for the game as they know how much it means to the fans. Speaking in the pre-match press conference, Pochettino told Football.London, “Of course to motivate for this type of game is an easy job.

“We don’t need to motivate them. We know very well what it means to play against Arsenal. We know that we’re going to be very motivated and we’ll have a team in front that is very motivated too.”

The Argentine however also said that he expects a tough game on Saturday.

He added, “We’ve played twice against them this season. One Premier League game at the Emirates that we lost, another in the Carabao Cup that we won. Of course it’s going to be tough, the third game of the season against Arsenal.”
