Pochettino opens up on life as a manager, as well as revealing his inspiration

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has been a revelation since arriving in the Premier League over five years ago.

Poch originally managed Southampton, and made a name for himself by playing attractive football with an emphasis on youth.

Spurs signed him up soon after, and neither have looked back since, with Tottenham now being Champions League and top four regulars in the Prem.

Pochettino has opened up on life as a manager this week, on a day that his friend Jose Mourinho was sacked by Manchester United.

Poch believes that people are too impatient in modern times, which has transferred over to the football world too.

The one thing Pochettino will surely be given at Spurs is time. With a net budget of just £30m and a new stadium on the way, the project at Tottenham is definitely a long term one.

Spurs fans will be hoping and praying that Poch is the man to see it through.

Pochettino said (Football London): “Patience in football in England was completely different 10 years ago. People are now impatient. It’s tough because many things change with time and in life. Football is the same.

“What excites the most is to be on the pitch managing and training, but today at the same level you need to manage things off the pitch. It makes it very difficult for sure.”

Pochettino also spoke about his inspiration, Sir Alex Ferguson, and the opportunity he had to spend some time with the football icon: “Sir Alex was and is an inspiration for me. Of course to have the possibility was amazing. I think it was fantastic to share a moment and Jesus was there too. It gave us massive belief and confirmed the way we work that all is possible.”
