Pochettino outright refuses to talk about his future at Spurs

As painful as it may be for Tottenham Hotspur after seeing their dream come crashing down last night in Madrid, talk must now turn to the future.

Spurs lost against Liverpool in the Champions League final, but there are positives to take from their stellar European campaign in which they knocked out giants such as Borussia Dortmund, Man City, and Ajax.

Tottenham will now surely look towards investing in their squad to ensure that nights like these are not so rare in the club’s future.

However, a big part of Spurs’ job this summer is also to retain their key men if they are to push against next season.

Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld are both in the final years of their contracts now at the club, and Spurs will not want to lose either if they can help it.

However, perhaps the most crucial figure who must remain for success is Pochettino himself, although he refused any talk of his future last night.

Poch said (Football London): “It’s to talk a lot now, so early. We need to assimilate that defeat. For sure we are going to have time to talk in the future. The future can be tomorrow.

“It is not a moment to talk too much. You can interpret things in different ways. People want to compare me with different managers but they don’t know that we are in a different project in a different position and different place. But the people want to be more clever and they want to give an opinion without an argument.

“In five years at Tottenham the project was so clear, our ambition was amazing, and the commitment from the players was amazing – the club played their first Champions League final. Now is the time to stay calm, change the mood, for sure we are going to have time to talk.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

Some may say that it was make or break against Liverpool the other night for this Spurs team, but I disagree. I believe that keeping Pochettino is make or break. In my opinion, if he stays, Spurs get investment and push for titles in the coming years. However, if he leaves, they may find themselves back to square one, and there could be a few players who follow him out the door.
