Pochettino picks three players who deserve more credit

Tottenham Hotspur have endured a tricky start to the campaign, after failing to sign any new players in the summer transfer window.

Not only this, but their stadium delays have constantly hampered their early season, with a finish date now not expected until 2019.

Injuries have also plagued the Tottenham side so far this season, with the likes of Hugo Lloris, Jan Vertonghen, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen, Mousa Dembele, Danny Rose, Harry Winks, Vincent Janssen, Luke Amos, Michel Vorm and more on the side lines at one point or another so far.

As a result Pochettino has been unable to rotate the squad as much as he would have liked, and has relied on some less senior members to keep things ticking over.

Poch picked out three names in particular who he believes deserve far more credit.

With Danny Rose out injured, Ben Davies has had to play near enough every game down that left hand side and has done so with a pretty high standard.

Harry Winks has come back into the side and looks like an amazing talent already, earning his second international call up.

Surprise package Moussa Sissoko also looks a completely new man this season, putting in consistently impressive performances week in week out.

Football London report Poch said: “Davinson Sanchez played Monday and Wednesday 90 minutes and I think to play today and to play Tuesday and Saturday should be a big risk, a big, big risk.

“Then I think I was so happy with Juan Foyth and Toby wasn’t involved in the Carabao Cup.

“Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen, if you follow us, they came from injuries and we need to be clever in the way that we manage. That’s it.

“For me it doesn’t exist these big players. For me it’s a big team, a big squad.

“The depth of the squad we are showing against West Ham and today and a team like Manchester City came here and only drew.

“I think we need to give more value to the squad. Nobody talks about Sissoko, or different players that are doing a fantastic job like Ben Davies or Harry Winks. They are playing a lot.

“Always we try to find big players. All are big players, all are big players.

“I don’t like to say big players. I want you to talk about all the players with the same respect and all are important.

“Tottenham are going to win with one or another name if we have the right mentality.

“If we have the big names and no mentality we are not going to win. We are to be weak, only names on the pitch.”
