Pochettino promises his players will be fresh to face Man Utd

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has said that he expects Tottenham’s game against Manchester United on Sunday to be a competitive one.

The Red Devils come into the game with momentum having turned their form around completely after the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the interim boss.

The game against Tottenham represents United’s first big test under the Norwegian.

Spurs also come into the game in good form after having overcome Chelsea in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final.

Even though Tottenham are 10 points clear of Manchester United in the table, the Argentine said he expects a tough game on Sunday.

During his pre-match press conference, Pochettino told Football.London: “It’s going to be a very nice game. Always Tottenham vs Manchester, Manchester vs Tottenham, every time that we play are always exciting, very competitive games.”

“Of course this Sunday it will be a very nice game to watch. It will be tough, I think Manchester United arrive in a very good level, with very good momentum.”

Pochettino also noted the fact that while Spurs were involved in an extremely competitive game mid-week, Manchester United have had a week to rest and prepare for the game, and arrive refreshed from their training camp in Dubai.

However, the 46-year-old didn’t use that as an excuse and suggested that Tottenham will still be competitive throughout the 90 minutes.

He added: “Of course they’ve had more time to prepare for this game. They arrive from Dubai and we were involved in the Carabao Cup semi-final, but we are going to arrive in a very good condition.”

“We will arrive fresh too to compete on Sunday in our best way. Of course, it’s going to be a tough game for both sides.”

“If you have a clear week to work always it’s different, but it’s nothing to say. It’s not that they have some advantage it’s just the condition we arrive.”

“For us it was very competitive, Tuesday the semi-final against Chelsea. We need to be right in how we assess our players and try to make the right decision to be positive. We believe that we are going to arrive in a very good level to compete in a very tough game.”
