Pochettino promises to get out-of-form Spurs star back to his best

Tottenham Hotspur bought a real gem when they signed Dele Alli from MK Dons as a teenager, and the midfielder man went from strength to strength in his first few seasons for the Lilywhites.

He slotted straight into the team in the 2015/16 season, playing 46 games and scoring ten goals across all competitions (Wikipedia).

He then made a major step forward in his second season when he managed a career-best 22 goals in 50 games, including 18 in the Premier League for Spurs.

He followed up with 14 more goals in the 2017/18 season, but the last campaign was one riddled with injuries for the England man.

In 2018/19, Dele managed just 7 goals from 38 games in all competitions and has yet to hit the ground running this season after suffering a hamstring injury in pre-season.

However, it is important to remember that Dele has been out injured a lot and has also been played in deeper positions away from goal.

Pochettino has now assured fans that there is nothing wrong with Dele and that Spurs will recover his best form in the future.

Poch said (Football London): “There’s nothing wrong. You need to understand that football is about form, about some not so good periods. Dele only needs time to recover his best performance.

“We’re going to help him, provide all the tools and platform for him to recover his best way to play. There’s no doubt Dele is going to recover. He’s in a tough period but we need him, he’s a very important player for us. In time, we’re going to recover the best Dele Alli of course.”
