Serge Aurier seems to have a divided opinion among Tottenham Hotspur fans since his switch from PSG and has found himself behind Kieran Trippier in the pecking order.
The right-back is known for his inconsistency from game to game, however last night against Watford he showed his true quality.
Aurier showed superb defensive awareness in the first half to track back and steal the ball from the foot of Hornets striker Isaac Success to prevent a goal scoring opportunity when the score was still 0-0.
The Ivory Coast international’s appearance came to an abrupt end at Stadium MK when he suffered a quad (thigh) strain when attempting to cross a ball in the second half.
Tottenham had used all three substitutes at the time of the injury and it was severe enough that Aurier could not continue. He hobbled down the tunnel, meaning that Spurs had to play the last 9 minutes with ten men.
Pochettino provided an update to Football.London after the match when asked if the defender is okay: “I don’t believe so (inhales sharply). In a cross he felt his quad. Tomorrow we’ll see, but it’s not a good thing.”
