Pochettino responds to Spurs fans who questioned his decision against PSV

When Lucas Moura was substituted in the 62nd minute of Tottenham Hotspur’s Champions League clash against PSV Eindhoven, some sections of the home support at Wembley voiced their discontent.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side trailed their Dutch opponents 1-0 at the time of the substitution with the Brazilian making way for Erik Lamela.

Up until that point of the match, Moura was looking one of Tottenham’s brightest hopes to get back into the game with his ability to get hold of the ball and drive forward.

PSV took the lead inside two minutes when striker Luuk De Jong headed home to silence the Spurs fans. The frustration certainly increased for some fans are not normally heard voicing their surprise when Pochettino decides on a tactical switch, something which the Spurs boss acknowledged during his post-match press conference.

Harry Kane was the familiar hero as his two late goals gave his side a lifeline in the competition.

Pochettino told Football.London: “It’s the first time in my four or five years they were critical of me, but hey it finished 2-1.

“We tried to find a solution and the goal arrived with Llorente finding Kane and Trippier pushing up. Sometimes people say Pochettino doesn’t have a Plan B. I’ve got nothing to say about the fans though. They’ve been fantastic. I understand and maybe my reaction would be the same.”
