Pochettino reveals midfielder could return for trip to Crystal Palace

Victor Wanyama could return to the Tottenham Hotspur squad for Saturday’s Premier League match against Crystal Palace.

The midfielder picked up a knee injury in last Wednesday’s Carabao Cup win against West Ham United which ruled him out of the trip to Wolves.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino spoke at the press conference ahead of the clash against PSV Eindhoven to confirm that Wanyama has not suffered a recurrence of a knee problem.

He spent the majority of the first half of the last campaign on the sidelines due to a knee problem picked up in pre-season and has only managed four appearance in all competitions this season.

The 27-year-old took part in training during yesterday’s open session to which the media were invited as he recovers from the knock sustained against the Hammers.

Wanyama was recently named in Kenya’s squad for the Afcon Qualifier against Sierra Leone on November 18.

Pochettino told Football.London: “No, it is the other, he got a knock. Today he was training and is close to be available, maybe for Saturday he will be available. It was another knee that got a knock during the game against West Ham.”
