Pochettino reveals the Champions League return of a key man

Tottenham Hotspur are desperately in need of some good news surrounding their dwindling defence this season.

The likes of Davinson Sanchez and Kieran Trippier are currently injured, with Juan Foyth not in the Champions League squad for tomorrow, Danny Rose close to a return, and Carter-Vickers out on loan.

Luckily, just when they need him most, fan favourite Jan Vertonghen has returned from injury and is fit to play in the must-win clash with Inter Milan.

Vertonghen actually appeared on the bench in the 3-1 win over Chelsea at the weekend, but was an unused substitute.

He will likely now slot in beside his long-term defensive partner for both club and country Toby Alderweireld.

Spurs must win the game by at least two goals, so keeping a clean sheet could be vital for the club’s hopes of taking their qualification hopes down to the final week.

Vertonghen will be hoping to get back to winning ways straight away after 10 games out.

Football London report Poch said: “Jan was ready to play against Chelsea but my decision was Foyth and Toby.

“He’s ready to play. He was working so hard in the last three or four weeks.”
