Pochettino reveals what he talked to the players about in their meeting today

The international break is finally over and the Spurs lads are now returning to Hotspur Way ahead of their match against Crystal Palace this weekend.

It has been a rather strange season so far for the Lilywhites, as they currently sit in 9th place in the League, not exactly where they want to be.

However, despite only picking up one win from four, there have been some largely positive results in the mix for Pochettino’s side.

They have already secured away draws against both Man City and Arsenal this season, as well as just getting these tough fixtures out of the way.

The loss at home to Newcastle will still sting for those Spurs players, but there are certainly positives to take after the first month of play.

Pochettino has now revealed that he talked to the players about refocusing today, clearing the minds of individual situations and moving together as a squad.

He said (Football London): “Now, for sure, it was so important to be refocused. The conversation today altogether now is the squad we are going to have until January, when the rumours will appear again and different situation. It was very good to talk today for nearly one hour and refocus again on our objective. To be clear in our minds, to think that the most important is the collective and start to put outside individual situations, all together again and try to create a dynamic and be strong and starting winning games. That’s the most important thing for us now.”

On the international break, Poch added: “I didn’t enjoy it too much. We were preparing. We were working, reviewing a lot of things, planning, talking. A strange period, a weird period, that wasn’t about having a party or enjoying. It was more about refocusing again on the competition and making a plan to provide the best tools for the team.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

While the energy and effort levels in the Newcastle game annoyed me, Tottenham look to bet getting stronger and stronger so far this season. With those two tough away draws, if Spurs can beat the majority of the big six at home and continue their good away form, they should be in for a good run this year. However, I would say that they are well off title-winning pace.
