Pochettino reveals what may be ‘decisive’ in race for the top four

Tottenham Hotspur are back into third place in the Premier League after an impressive display against the relegated Huddersfield this afternoon.

Pochettino made seven changes to his starting line up from the side that defeated Man City on Tuesday night at the new White Hart Lane.

However, even with the likes of Llorente, Moura, Foyth, Wanyama, Walker-Peters, Davies, and Sanchez coming into the XI, Spurs still ran away as 4-0 winners.

Not only did this give them the three points they needed to leapfrog Chelsea in third, but it also gave their goal difference a little boost, something that Pochettino believes could be crucial.

Spurs now have a goal difference of +30, while Chelsea in fourth sit on +23, Arsenal in fifth on +25, and Man United in sixth on +18 before their game tonight18.

With the race for the top four looking as if it may go down to the wire, goal difference could be key in securing Champions League football for next season.

Poch said (Football London): “For sure it’s going to be tough. We are fighting against big sides and teams that are building to win the league or to win big trophies or be in the top four. We are going to fight against Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United. I think until the end it will be a very tough race. Of course, to score goals in that opportunity can help in the end. Goal difference can be decisive at the end of the season to achieve the top four.”
