Pochettino says Spurs are ‘working hard’ on new Eriksen contract

Tottenham Hotspur are set to lose some key players at the end of this season if they don’t tie them down to new deals.

Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Mousa Dembele, Michel Vorm and Fernando Llorente will all be available on a free at the end of this campaign.

Toby and Jan both have year extension options in their current contracts, however this will make the former available for just £25m in the summer.

We believe that Dembele, Vorm and Llorente will all either leave on a free come the end of the season, or be offloaded in January to recoup some funds.

Christian Eriksen has also been the centre of much debate this past week, as his contract runs out in the summer of 2020.

Reports have suggested talks between his agent and Spurs have stalled (The Times), but Pochettino has now come out and said the club are working hard to agree terms.

The Evening Standard report Poch said:”He knows [and] we know what we’re doing and of course we’re working hard.

“The club’s working to try to take the best decisions. Christian is going to take I think the decision that is best for him. We’re not worried. In football I’m never worried.

“But I prefer that he’s going to sign the new contract and spend a long time with Tottenham. It will be fantastic.”
