Pochettino speaks out on Batshuayi links and transfer hopes

Tottenham Hotspur have now become the first Premier League team in history not to sign a single new player across an entire season.

Not exactly the record fans would have been hoping for this campaign, but if Spurs continue to build on their current League position of third, there will be few complaints.

The only first team business Spurs did get done this window came in the form of outgoings, with Mousa Dembele sold to China, Nkoudou loaned out to Monaco.

However, Spurs were linked with a potential signing at the death on transfer deadline day, with Chelsea’s Batshuayi available on loan for the remainder of the season.

The Blues had agreed terms with both West Ham and Real Betis, charging a loan fee of £2m for the short-term period.

However, the Belgian eventually signed for Crystal Palace on loan, as Chelsea apparently priced Spurs out of a move by asking for an outrageous £8m loan fee (Express).

Poch said (Football London): “There were many reports and rumours and got a lot of information and for sure more than use. I cannot talk about the different situation, we were waiting for different situations that may happen, like in every window.

“I think nothing to say about that rumour, I think we were open to add players and quality to help us achieve in three months to be in competition and achieve what we want, but we cant add that quality.

“It’s not because I wanted, it’s because we can’t add. I was so open but for different reasons we cannot deliver what we wanted.”
