Veron hopes Pochettino will manage Argentina

Former Manchester United midfielderJuan Sebastian Veron wants Mauricio Pochettino to make the move and manage the Argentina national team.

Following the departure of Jorge Sampaoli last month, Veron told ESPN Argentina that Pochettino managing the national team would be the ideal fit:

“Obviously, Pochettino’s name is seductive any way you look at it,” he said.

“But I think that to offer him something, you have to have something well-armed. Present him a platform and see how he can fit into that.”

Argentina were eliminated from this year’s Wolrd Cup by the eventual winners, France.

Pochettino is now entering his fifth season in charge of the Lilywhites but remains trophyless as Spurs’ quest for a trophy continues.

The Spurs manager has never shied away from admitting he would one day like to manage his country as it would be a job of great pride to the former Newell’s Old Boys defender.

However, the 46-year-old coach is in contract with Spurs until 2023 having signed a fresh deal only months ago. Therefore, a move from the Argentinian national team in the near future would seem unlikely.
