‘Pochettino wasn’t the problem’ – Some Spurs fans react to poor first half display against Brighton

Spurs trail Brighton 1-0 at half time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in what has been an extremely cagey first forty five minutes.

Jose Mourinho made a couple of changes to the side that lost 2-0 to Chelsea on Sunday with Harry Winks coming into midfield and Ryan Sessegnon making his first Premier League start for Spurs replacing the suspended Son Heung-min.

The game started quite slowly with the away side happy to let the Tottenham defenders have the ball and play on the counter after winning it in midfield.

Neither goalkeeper was tested too much in the first half an hour but Harry Kane had the ball in the net after being played through by Winks, only for VAR to rule the striker offside in the build up play.

Brighton then took the lead against the run of play as a free kick swing in from a wide area was powered home by Adam Webster from close range.

Some Spurs fans were livid with the lack of urgency the team displayed in the first and demanded that Mourinho make some changes at half time.

We need to show a little more urgency on the ball in the final third. We are moving the ball way too slowly and are waiting for something to happen rather than forcing the issue. We still have more than enough quality to come back from this and get all three points.
