Pochettino’s Zidane admiration

Mauricio Pochettino has spoken of his admiration of Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane.

We are off to the Spanish capital to do battle with the reigning European champions on Tuesday.

The Argentinian has praised the job his counterpart Zidane has done since he took over as Real Madrid boss in January 2016.

He won La Liga last season and his Madrid side became the first team to retain the Champions League since the current format was created.

Zidane won Europe’s premier  club competition as a player during the 2001-02 season for Madrd, scoring a spectacular volley in the final against German side Leverkusen.

When asked, Mauricio found it difficult to hide his admiration for the Frenchman. Speaking to beIN Sports Pochettino said “Madrid have been the best team in the world in the last few years,”

He added “They’ve proved that and, honestly, I have a certain weakness for Zinedine Zidane, as a footballer and now.
“Of course, we’ll try to use our weapons to play a good game and to win, because we’re going there to win”

We are tied on points at the top of the table after both teams recorded victories in the opening two rounds. Let’s hope we can come away with a better result than we had the last time we visited the Bernabeu in the Champions League.
