‘Point to prove’ – Chris Sutton predicts the score for Tottenham vs Burnley

Tottenham Hotspur desperately need to bounce back and find a win this weekend, but luckily, Chris Sutton reckons the visit of Burnley will be the perfect opportunity for the Lilywhites to end their run of defeats.

It is now four straight defeats for Tottenham, after the 4-2 loss at the hands of Liverpool last weekend. That result came on the back of London derby defeats to Chelsea and Arsenal to cap a torrid week for Ange Postecoglou‘s men.

Before that, they suffered a hammering at Newcastle United, too. This run of form has seen Spurs all but relinquish fourth place to Aston Villa, and there is even a chance they could slip to sixth place by the end of the Premier League season if results don’t go their way.

Tottenham vs Burnley score prediction

According to Sutton in his latest column for the BBC, that run will come to an end this weekend.

He wrote: “From Burnley’s perspective, the fact Nottingham Forest’s points deduction was upheld means they are not down yet, but if they don’t win here then they will be relegated.

“It felt like the end for them after the Newcastle game last weekend and while they have not quite been given a reprieve, I suppose the good news is that they are still not out of it. They might even think this is a good time to play a Tottenham team who have lost four in a row.

“Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou will be concerned about his side’s loss of form but this is the ideal fixture for them to bounce back. I’d still say Spurs have had a good season even if fourth place appears beyond them now, and they will have a point to prove here.”

Sutton’s prediction: 3-1.

Spurs Web Opinion

No offence to Burnley, but we have got to be winning this one. At home, against a team that’s basically relegated, our players just have to step up and pull a good performance out of the bag now otherwise things will start to turn a little sour as we approach the end of the season.
