Pompey linked with January Giovani move

Reports are linking Portsmouth with a January swoop for Mexican forward, Giovani Dos Santos.

Dos Santos has found first team football hard to come by at White Hart Lane, with his spell being disrupted by injuries.

But Avram grant has identified the 20 year-old as a player who could help Portsmouth in their fight against relegation.

It is unclear whether Redknapp will allow Giovani to leave on a permanent basis, but it is possible for a loan agreement to be reached in January, especially with Jamie O’Hara expected to be recalled to Spurs when 2010 arrives.

Dos Santos was wanted by the Portsmouth hierachy in the summer, but did not have the funds to land the former Barcelona youngster.

However, with Ali Al-Faraj having taken control of the south coast club and pledging money to the club, a deal could be brokered in the winter transfer window.

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. Dont read too deep into this.
O’Hara isnt being recalled, as there was a clause in his loan deal stating if he is happy and getting first team football, then he would not be recalled. Also i believe Harry gave him a new deal with a view to selling him for more money, and he is happy down south, so i doubt he will return at all to be honest.

That makes this reporters sources very poor, so chances are its the reporter who wants Giovani out no one else….

  2. Lets put this to bed once and for all Dosantos cannot be sold for less than 8 million because Barcelona only sold him for 4 million because he had just had is ankle operated on .They put a sell on clause in is contract stating if we sold him in the next two years the fee would rise to the full amount 8 million . And Harry cant wait to play him having made glowing reports about is attitude in training and is International form so he will when fit be playing a starring role for Spurs not pompy or any other team.
