Portsmouth keen on Gio loan

Portsmouth are reportedly looking to make a bid to take Giovani Dos Saantos on loan for the remainder of the season.

Giovani has found himself down the pecking order at Tottenham this season, with only one substitute appearance in the league so far.

Giovani impressed in a stint at Ipswich last season and Avram Grant is keen on the Mexican to help boost Portsmouth’s survival chances.

Any deal would rely on the current transfer embargo on Portsmouth being lifted, but early signs suggest Redknapp would be keen to allow Giovani out on loan.

  1. This is what baffles me about Harry he praises Dosantos says he cant wait to see him play and he gets injured and now he is loaning him is he losing is memory .This lad should be on our bench has a surprise sub to break stubborn defenses he scored a ha trick with Eto in his last game for Barca. Please Harry get of your guilt trip with pompy and keep him at the lane he could be the one that gets us to the mountain peak .

  2. I would love to see Gio go on loan in the Premiership – at last we could see what he is made of. It would be make or break for him. The loan move to Ipswich didn’t show much. He obviously is not impressing in training, because Harry doesn’t want him near the bench. A lot of people want him to play for Spurs, but I do not get what the fuss is about him.

  3. I think loaning him out would be a GREAT option and to a PL side where he’d have a good crack at making the team every week would be ideal imo. Personally I’m not surprised he hasn’t appeared for Spurs, as he’s been injured for the 1st half of the season and the team’s done superbly without him. He’s a young player who needs games and a PL loan would allow him to play in this league without sacrificing stability at Spurs.

Davspurs – I see your point about using him as a sub. Do remember that his hat trick was against a poor side (I think it was Murcia) and he was playing for the best team in the world at the time. I share your frustration as he did have a great pre-season with us, but there’s absolutely no evidence that he could be as effective as any of those (Modric, Kranjcar, Lennon) currently used in our midfield (he’s a 2nd striker for Mexico and always played in a 433 for Barca). And in terms of striking options, he’s probably 5th in the pecking order right now for us, which is why I think a loan would be a great idea.
