‘Positive energy’ – Lloris admits he enjoys working with Spurs summer signing

Hugo Lloris has revealed that he has enjoyed working with Pierluigi Gollini and the Italian is always pushing him in training.

Golllini joined Spurs on a season-long loan deal from Atalanta in the summer, with the North Londoners having the option to sign the goalkeeper on a permanent basis for £13m (Sky Sports).

However, Gollini has had to be content being the understudy to Lloris, having not made a single Premier League appearance for the Lilywhites so far.

The fact that Lloris signed a contract extension until 2024 last month suggests that Spurs are unlikely to hand Gollini regular minutes any time soon.

Italian outlet L’Eco di Bergamo (02/01/2022) claimed during the January transfer window that the 26-year-old could cut his spell in North London short and head out on another loan for the second half of the season.

However, Gollini ended up staying put at Spurs and Lloris has admitted that the Italian is a great influence in the dressing room with the energy he brings.

The Spurs captain said about the on-loan Atalanta man to the club’s official Twitch channel. “He’s bringing every day his energy, his positive energy, his freshness – he’s a great teammate, to be honest.

“And we enjoy working together, also with Brandon. We try to push each other. That’s fantastic when you have this feeling with your teammate.

“It’s been the case many times in my Spurs career with Michel Vorm, Paulo Gazzaniga, with Brad Friedel, there’s been so many, many keepers. And when you work in that condition, it’s just amazing.”

It is visible from the way Gollini reacts on the bench and the way he celebrates wins with the other players that the Italian is a fantastic team man.

However, I do not see Spurs paying £13m to sign him permanently. Besides, the 26-year-old would likely prefer to go to a club where he is the number one rather than staying at Spurs.
